Champions League first, Premier League later: Pundit shares Galatasaray's message to Osimhen
Published: May 06, 2025
Galatasaray are keen to retain Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen for at least one more season.
The 26-year-old’s future remains uncertain amid interest from top European clubs, but Galatasaray are doing everything possible to convince their star forward to stay in Istanbul.
The club’s management has tabled several proposals in recent weeks, with the latest being a direct plea for Osimhen to remain for the 2025–26 campaign.
Football commentator Özgür Sancar revealed details of the latest offer.
He was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi: "Galatasaray said, ‘Stay for one more year, let’s be successful in the Champions League. If you want, you can transfer to the Premier League again next season.’”
The pitch comes at a critical time, as Galatasaray edge closer to clinching the Süper Lig title.
Club officials believe an early championship and the promise of Champions League glory could sway Osimhen’s decision.
"Early championship will affect Osimhen’s decision," added Sancar, highlighting the importance of the club's strong finish to the season.
Despite the uncertainty, Osimhen is said to feel a strong sense of belonging at the red-yellow club.
Osimhen has enjoyed a record-breaking season in Turkey, scoring 33 goals in all competitions and surpassing his previous personal best of 31 goals with Napoli.
He is now just one goal shy of Mario Jardel’s all-time Galatasaray record of 34 goals in a single season, set in 2000–01.
His explosive performances have not only boosted Galatasaray’s title ambitions but also made him a fan favourite at Rams Park.
Osimhen's goalscoring form has surpassed those of former club stars Mauro Icardi and Bafétimbi Gomis, both of whom netted 32 goals in their best seasons with the club.
