Official: Tottenham youth product eligible for Nigeria, Malawi released by Cambridge United
Published: May 08, 2025
Tottenham Hotspur academy graduate Jubril Okedina is on the lookout for a new club ahead of the reopening of the summer transfer window.
In a statement on the club’s official website, Cambridge United confirmed on Thursday evening that Okedina will be moving on to pastures new following the expiry of his contract.
Okedina is among eleven players released by Cambridge United, alongside Nigerian centre-forward Brandon Njoku,
Jack Stevens, Louis Chadwick, Danny Andrew, Paul Digby, George Thomas, Jordan Cousins, Ben Stevenson, Dan Barton and Amaru Kaunda.
Cambridge United have decided to part ways with Okedina following their relegation to League Two, having finished 23rd in the 24-team League One table.
The 24-year-old was a member of Cambridge United's promotion-winning team in 2021, making fourteen appearances, including twelve starts, after joining them on loan from Tottenham Hotspur for the second half of the season.
Overall, Okedina went on to make 138 appearances in his four-and-a-half seasons for the U's, providing two assists.
Born in London, Okedina is eligible to represent the national teams of Nigeria, Malawi and England.
Despite earning two caps for the Flames, Malawi's senior national team, he remains eligible to play for the Super Eagles as both appearances came in friendly matches.
During his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Okedina wasn't handed his senior debut but was a key player for the youth teams, making appearances in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2, FA Youth Cup, UEFA Youth League and EFL Trophy.
