Rotherham United offer new contract to centre-back who wants to play for Super Eagles
Published: May 09, 2025
Following the completion of the 2024-2025 season, Rotherham United has announced its retained and released list after discussions with all its players.
The Millers have offered a new contract to two Nigerian players in the shape of Hakeem Odoffin and Joshua Kayode.
Born in Barnet, Hakeem Odoffin has made himself available for Super Eagles selection after committing his international future to the three-time African champions.
The former Tottenham Hotspur, Reading and Barnet youth teamer has played nonstop at Rotherham United since August 2021, after joining them from Hamilton Academical.
Negotiations with Hakeem Odoffin over a new deal are ongoing, with a formal offer already made to extend the central defender's stay on improved conditions.
Rotherham United confirmed they will provide a further update once a decision has been reached.
Odoffin has sixteen goals and one assist in 138 all-competition appearances for Rotherham United
He could have walked away as a free agent at the end of last season, but the Millers triggered a one-year contract extension of his deal, keeping him at the club until June 30, 2025.
Apart from the aforementioned teams, he previously enjoyed spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Northampton Town and Livingston.
Odoffin spent his early school years in Nigeria before moving back to England.
