Victor the history maker: Osimhen breaks two Galatasaray records with brace against Trabzonspor
Published: May 14, 2025
Victor Osimhen continues to make history in Turkish football, breaking Galatasaray’s all-time record for the most goals scored by a foreign player in a single season on Wednesday evening.
The Nigerian striker reached the milestone with his 35th goal of the campaign, surpassing the legendary Mario Jardel’s iconic tally (34) from the 2000-2001 season.
Osimhen's remarkable achievement came in Galatasaray's 3-0 Turkish Cup final victory over Trabzonspor, where he netted a brace to seal the title.
The Super Eagles striker is also the first foreign player to score a brace for Galatasaray in the Turkish Cup final.
The goals not only helped the club lift the prestigious trophy but also cemented the 26-year-old’s place in the club’s history books.
A breakdown of Osimhen’s goal haul highlights his consistent brilliance across competitions.
The Napoli loanee has scored 24 goals in the Turkish Super Lig, six in the UEFA Europa League, and five in the Turkish Cup.
His clinical finishing, explosive pace, and aerial prowess have made him virtually unstoppable throughout the season.
Osimhen joined Galatasaray on loan from Napoli last summer and has since established himself as the focal point of the team’s attack.
His goals have propelled the Istanbul club to the top of the league table and now to a domestic cup triumph, with the possibility of a historic double still within reach.
By breaking Jardel’s record — which had stood for over two decades — Osimhen has not only delighted the Galatasaray faithful but also drawn the attention of top European clubs ahead of the summer transfer window.
With a few matches remaining in the Super Lig, Osimhen could yet extend the record and leave an indelible mark on Galatasaray’s storied history.
