'Nothing in those stories'- Agent dismisses Uche's links to Leeds, Brentford, Sunderland, Aston Villa
Published: June 05, 2025
Respected Nigerian agent Peter Ejiasi has dismissed growing speculation linking his client, Christantus Uche, with a potential summer move to the Premier League.
The versatile Getafe midfielder has emerged as one of Nigeria's most sought-after players in the summer transfer window.
Reports have suggested there is interest from several English clubs, including Leeds United, Brentford, Sunderland and Aston Villa.
Uche had a breakout campaign at Getafe, scoring four goals and producing six assists in 33 outings in the Spanish top-flight.
His performances have not gone unnoticed by Nigeria manager Eric Chelle, who named him in the squads for the recently concluded Unity Cup and the upcoming friendly with Russia.
On his international debut, Christantus Uche made an immediate impact, endearing himself to Super Eagles fans by converting the decisive penalty in Nigeria’s shootout victory over Jamaica in the Unity Cup final last weekend.
Ejiasi, who used to look after 2013 Africa Cup of Nations-winning midfielder Obiora Nwankwo, has played down rumours linking Uche with the aforementioned Premier League clubs, insisting there is no substance to the reports.
When contacted by allnigeriasoccer.com to verify the accuracy of reports linking Christantus Uche with Premier League clubs, Ejiasi responded: "There is nothing in those stories. Uche is a happy player of Getafe and is currently in Russia fully committed to his national team duties."
He added: "We are calm. When the transfer window opens, you’ll hear a lot of news — some fiction, some gossip.
"It's still too early to say what (the outcome) can be, even though it is a good thing for the lad. It shows he is doing something right."
The 22-year-old Uche has a contract with Getafe until the end of the 2027-2028 season.
