Sevilla concerned as injury-prone Ejuke defies warnings to play risky street football in Nigeria
Published: June 23, 2025
Chidera Ejuke's off-season conduct has raised serious concerns within Sevilla, as the Nigerian winger continues to engage in informal matches on unsafe clay pitches during his vacation in Nigeria.
Despite previous warnings from the club, recent videos circulating on social media show Ejuke participating in high-intensity games on uneven, non-professional surfaces, potentially jeopardizing his fitness ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Ejuke, whose career has already been plagued by muscle injuries, appears to be ignoring medical and contractual advice, according to Spanish outlet vamosmi sevilla.
One of the early videos that alarmed Sevilla showed him slipping while playing in a Valencia jersey, prompting the club to intervene with a formal warning.
However, fresh footage suggests that the 27-year-old has not heeded that advice, raising fears of a possible relapse or new injury before the pre-season begins.
Sevilla, already facing a period of transition and internal upheaval, now finds itself in a delicate position.
The club’s sporting direction has been recently overhauled, with Antonio Cordón taking charge with more autonomy than his predecessor, Víctor Orta.
Cordón is expected to restore stability and discipline to the club’s sporting operations, which have suffered under previous management.
With Cordón’s new mandate and a focus on professionalism and accountability, Ejuke’s behavior could place his future at Sevilla in doubt.
The club may be forced to reconsider his role in the squad if his off-pitch conduct continues to contradict the expectations placed on its players.
