After meeting with Eric Chelle, prolific Nigerian striker agrees two new deals with Chelsea
Published: June 28, 2025
Allnigeriasoccer.com can exclusively report with certainty that prolific tri-national striker Chizaram Ezenwata has agreed two new contracts with Premier League giants Chelsea ahead of the forthcoming season.
Born to a Nigerian father and Cameroonian mother, Chizzy, whose father Ndubuisi Ezenwata played for Gombe United, is provisionally cap-tied to England.
Last month, Chizzy Ezenwata visited the Super Eagles' camp in West London with his father, where he received a warm welcome from manager Eric Chelle and the Super Eagles players amid discussions about representing Nigeria at U20 or Olympic level.
Amid ongoing speculation over his international allegiance, the highly rated centre-forward has resolved his club future ahead of the start of pre-season training.
Ezenwata will officially sign a scholarship deal with Chelsea on Thursday, July 3 and has also been offered his first professional contract, which he is expected to sign after turning 17 on September 5, 2025.
As per Premier League rules, all players in their U17 year are required to start the 2025-2026 season on a scholarship agreement, before they are permitted to sign a first professional football contract on or after their 17th birthday.
In his final season as a schoolboy, Ezenwata played above his age group, scoring twelve goals while producing four assists across twenty-three matches in the U18 Premier League, Premier League 2 and FA Youth Cup.
Notably, the 16-year-old made three substitute appearances in the Premier League 2 last term.
Ezenwata joined Chelsea in 2023 after a successful trial, having previously spent time in the youth setups of Tottenham Hotspur and Charlton Athletic.
