Transfer battle: Journalist reveals Galatasaray still hopeful of signing Osimhen amid Al-Hilal interest
Published: July 02, 2025
Galatasaray are working tirelessly to secure the permanent signing of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, whose future has become the club’s top priority this summer.
The 26-year-old forward’s dynamic presence transformed the Istanbul side’s attack, making him an essential figure as they look ahead to next season.
Described by many as one of Europe’s most complete centre-forwards, Osimhen has attracted serious interest from Saudi club Al Hilal, whose financial power threatens to disrupt Galatasaray’s plans.
Reports suggest Al Hilal have increased their offer to €50 million, testing the resolve of the Turkish champions.
However, Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu remains unwavering in his determination to keep Osimhen at the club.
Ajansspor journalist Özgür Sancar was quoted as saying by habersarikirmizi: "Although the Nigerian player's representative is trying to increase Al Hilal's offer to 50 million Euros, Galatasaray Sportif AŞ Vice President Abdullah Kavukcu is hopeful about the Osimhen transfer.
"Kavukcu, who brought sponsorship to the club and took a wide initiative in transfer operations, is determined to work until the last minute to keep Osimhen on the team."
Kavukcu’s commitment has given fans hope that the club can overcome the financial might of Al Hilal and build on last season’s success.
Osimhen's performances last season underline why he is so vital to the club: he scored an impressive 37 goals across all competitions during his loan spell, helping Galatasaray secure both the Turkish Super Lig title and the domestic cup.
