Galatasaray match Osimhen's N135b release clause but payment terms delay Napoli decision
Published: July 09, 2025
Turkish champions Galatasaray have escalated their pursuit of Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, submitting an enhanced bid to Napoli, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
The Istanbul-based club has matched the €75 million )approximately N135 billion in Nigerian currency) release clause in Osimhen’s contract, though the offer is structured with payment terms spread over five years in installments, rather than a lump-sum payment.
The final decision now rests with Napoli, who must determine whether to accept the proposed terms.
Osimhen, 26, has been a standout performer during his loan spell at Galatasaray in the 2024-25 season, scoring an impressive 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.
His prolific form helped the club secure the Turkish Super Lig title and the Turkish Cup, cementing his status as a fan favorite.
The Super Eagles star has reportedly agreed to personal terms with Galatasaray until June 2028, signaling his desire to remain in Istanbul.
However, Napoli’s insistence on receiving the full €75 million release clause without deferred payments has been a sticking point in negotiations.
Galatasaray’s latest offer follows a series of rejected bids, including an earlier €60 million proposal, as Napoli hold firm on their valuation.
Meanwhile, Saudi Pro League side Al Hilal remains in the race, prepared to pay the release clause in full, though Osimhen has shown a preference for staying in Europe.
