Nwaneri among three teenagers of Nigerian descent named in Arsenal's travelling squad to Asia

Arsenal have included three promising teenagers of Nigerian descent—Ethan Nwaneri, Josh Nichols and Andre Harriman-Annous—in their 30-man squad for the 2025 pre-season tour of Asia, as preparations for the 2025/26 Premier League season intensify.
The Gunners will face AC Milan and Newcastle United in Singapore before taking on Tottenham Hotspur in Hong Kong, with the young trio set to showcase their talents on an international stage.
Nwaneri made history in 2022 as the Premier League’s youngest-ever debutant at 15 years and 181 days.
His 2024/25 season was a breakout, with nine goals and two assists in 37 appearances, including a memorable strike against Manchester City.
Fresh off helping England Under-21s retain their European Championship title in Slovakia, Nwaneri opted for an early return to join the tour, aiming to solidify his first-team role under Mikel Arteta.
Josh Nichols, a versatile right-back, also joins the squad. He made his first-team debut in the 2024/25 League Cup against Bolton Wanderers.
With senior defenders like Takehiro Tomiyasu departing and Jurrien Timber recovering, Nichols has a prime opportunity to impress as a potential backup for Ben White.
His inclusion follows regular first-team training sessions, signaling Arteta’s trust in his potential.
Andre Harriman-Annous, a 17-year-old forward, completes the Nigerian contingent.
Born to a Nigerian mother and Ghanaian father, Harriman-Annous has shone in Arsenal’s youth ranks.
His standout performances, including a nominated Goal of the Month against Brighton, earned him a scholarship deal in 2024 and first-team training opportunities.
The tour will kick off in Singapore with matches against AC Milan (July 23) and Newcastle United (July 27), followed by a sold-out clash against Tottenham in Hong Kong on July 31.
