'We are professionals' – Ola Aina reacts to Gibbs-White's Tottenham Hotspur transfer drama

Super Eagles defender Ola Aina has addressed ongoing speculation surrounding his Nottingham Forest teammate Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been heavily linked with a summer move to Tottenham Hotspur.

The England international, whose contract includes a £60 million release clause, was reportedly scheduled for a medical at Tottenham Hotspur's training ground last week after reaching an agreement on the move.

However, the transfer was halted at the last minute, with Nottingham Forest stepping in to block the deal.

The proposed transfer has taken a controversial twist, with Nottingham Forest reportedly mulling legal action over an alleged breach of a confidential release clause, amid suspicions of foul play.

Despite the controversy, Gibbs-White featured in Forest’s goalless draw against Monaco at the Technique Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Gibbs-White added fuel to the speculation when he was withdrawn from the game and appeared to wave to fans— a gesture many interpreted as a farewell.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, Aina downplayed the speculation :"Morgan is a professional. I don't really know in and out of that, but he was here today and he has trained, whilst keeping fit as normal.

"So you would need to ask Morgan. We are professionals, and we have got a job to do, and that's what Morgan is doing right now."

Aina, who recently extended his contract with Nottingham Forest, also started the match and will be hoping to replicate his solid form in the upcoming 2025/2026 Premier League season.
