After signing new deal, Southampton loan out younger brother of Benin City-born forward

With a statement on the official website, Southampton have announced that Nigeria-eligible striker Princewill Ehibhatiomhan has joined Swindon Town on a season-long loan, subject to EFL approval.

Princewill is the younger brother of Benin City-born forward Kelvin Ehibhatiomhan, who progressed through Reading’s academy and has made 94 competitive appearances for the club’s first team.

In search of first team opportunities, Princewill has joined Swindon Town on his first loan move, just a month after extending his contract with Southampton.

The 19-year-old played a key role as The Saints U21s advanced to the 2024-2025 Premier League 2 final.

He had his most productive campaign as an academy player, scoring 12 goals and producing three assists in 30 appearances.

Ehibhatiomhan joined Southampton’s academy from Reading at 16 and quickly rose through the youth ranks, signing his first professional contract in 2023.

Although he has yet to make his first team debut for Southampton, he trained with the first team several times last season.

Ehibhatiomhan is Swindon Town's eleventh signing of the summer transfer window and has been allocated the number 20 jersey for the 2025-2026 season.

He becomes the second Nigerian striker to leave Southampton this summer, either permanently or on loan, following Super Eagles forward Paul Onuachu.
