Osimhen sees goal ruled out as Galatasaray score three without reply to beat Karagumruk

Victor Osimhen came off the bench in the 61st minute as Galatasaray secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Fatih Karagumruk in their Turkish Super Lig clash on Friday night.

The Nigerian striker, who missed Galatasaray’s season opener against Gaziantep due to a lack of match fitness, was given his first minutes of the campaign by manager Okan Buruk.

Osimhen quickly became involved, going down under a challenge in the penalty area just two minutes after his introduction, but the referee waved away the appeals for a penalty.

Baris Alper Yilmaz had put the hosts ahead in the 10th minute with a composed low strike, before Fatih Karagumruk’s Fatih Kurucuk turned the ball into his own net in the 74th minute to double Galatasaray’s advantage.

Mauro Icardi then sealed the win in the 87th minute, tapping into an empty net after being set up by Lucas Torreira.

Osimhen almost got on the scoresheet in the 70th minute, forcing Ivo Grbic into a save with a powerful low shot.

Eight minutes later, he had the ball in the net, only for the effort to be ruled out for offside.

He also went close with an 80th-minute header that drifted just wide, showing glimpses of his trademark aerial power.
