Confirmed: Gift Orban joins Verona on loan, his sixth club across six countries
Published: August 27, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Italian Serie A club Hellas Verona have announced the signing of 2023 Super Eagles invitee Gift Orban.
Orban has joined Hellas Verona on loan from TSG Hoffenheim, with an option to buy in the agreement
His transfer makes Verona the sixth different club he has represented and each of those clubs has been in a different country.
A product of Bison FC in his native Nigeria, Orban has also worn the colours of Stabaek (Norway), KAA Gent (Belgium), Lyon (France) and TSG Hoffenheim (Germany).
The German Bundesliga side fielded several enquiries for Orban during the summer transfer window and, in agreement with the striker, have sanctioned a loan move to Hellas Verona.
Orban burst onto the scene at Stabaek, where he scored 19 goals and added 7 assists in his debut season, firing the team to promotion and finishing as the OBOS-ligaen top scorer while being named Young Player of the Season.
His prolific form earned him a move to Belgian side Gent in January 2023, and he made an immediate impact with two goals on his Pro League debut.
That season, he set records as the league's highest-scoring debutant and the fastest hat-trick scorer in UEFA competition history.
Orban later joined Lyon, netting five times, before switching to Hoffenheim in 2024, where he registered four goals in 13 Bundesliga appearances.
