Super Eagles star joins Wolverhampton Wanderers in record-breaking deal, subject to medical
Published: August 29, 2025
Wolverhampton Wanderers and Racing Genk have reached an agreement in principle for the transfer of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, according to respected transfer market reporter Fabrizio Romano.
The deal, worth €27 million, will make Arokodare the most expensive sale in Genk's history, surpassing the €25 million Sheffield United paid for Norwegian midfielder Sander Berge in 2020.
The transfer is subject to the Super Eagles forward completing a medical examination scheduled for Saturday.
Three Nigeria internationals now feature among Genk's seven most expensive departures.
Paul Onuachu joined Southampton in 2023 for €18 million, Wilfred Ndidi moved to Leicester City in January 2017 for €17.6 million, and Arokodare is set to top the list with his imminent switch to Molineux.
Genk are set to profit handsomely from the 24-year-old, who enjoyed a breakout campaign last season, scoring 21 goals in 40 league appearances to finish as the Jupiler Pro League's top scorer.
His prolific form attracted interest from Napoli, AC Milan, Fulham and Burnley, though none were able to strike a deal before Wolves stepped in.
Should the move go through, Arokodare will sign a five-year contract with the Premier League side, according to HLN.
