'Be fully ready for Liverpool' – Galatasaray insider provides update on Osimhen injury situation
Published: September 18, 2025
Galatasaray insider Yakup Çınar has shared an update on Victor Osimhen's injury setback following his omission from the squad to face Eintracht Frankfurt.
The Nigerian striker will sit out the Yellow-Reds' UEFA Champions League opener after suffering an ankle injury while on international duty during the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier.
Osimhen picked up the injury in Nigeria's 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo, which also forced him to miss the decisive clash against group leaders South Africa. D
Despite encouraging signs in his recovery, the 26-year-old has yet to rejoin full training with the squad.
Çınar, speaking on his YouTube channel, disclosed that the Nigerian forward remains doubtful for Galatasaray's Super Lig clash against Konyaspor this weekend.
"Osimhen's chances of playing in the Konyaspor match are out of the question," he revealed as reported by Habersarikirmizi.
Çınar revealed that the Super Eagles striker is likely to return against Alanyaspor and should be fit for the crucial UEFA Champions League clash against Liverpool at Rams Park.
"He is expected to get some playing time in the Alanyaspor match and be fully ready for the Liverpool and Beşiktaş matches. His condition is not serious, but they don't want to risk it," he said.
Osimhen has maintained impressive form for the Turkish champions, finding the net in his first two starts against Caykur Rizespor and Kayserispor.
His comeback will provide a significant lift for the Yellow-Reds, strengthening their bid to challenge the top sides both in domestic competition and on the European stage.
