Published: October 08, 2025
Super Eagles stars Wilfred Ndidi and Terem Moffi have expressed strong confidence in Nigeria's chances of securing maximum points when they face Lesotho in a 2026 World Cup qualifier on Friday at the Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane, Limpopo, South Africa.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Ndidi emphasized the team’s determination to start their qualifying campaign on a positive note before turning attention to their second group fixture against Benin Republic in Uyo.
"We know where we are at the moment,” the former Leicester City midfielder said in an interview with the Super Eagles media team made available to allnigeriasoccer.com.
"These two games are very crucial. First of all, we focus on the Lesotho one and then we look towards the Benin one, but the most important now is the Lesotho one."
Meanwhile, OGC Nice striker Terem Moffi assured fans that the players are fully committed to delivering a convincing performance against Lesotho to keep Nigeria's World Cup qualification hopes alive.
"We are really confident about qualifying for the World Cup," Moffi said.
"We have to do our part and wait for the result of the other team. So, we're really confident things will go our way."
The Super Eagles began training for the crucial encounter on Tuesday evening with 18 players in camp.
The number increased to 20 by Wednesday’s second session, with the arrivals of Zaidu Sanusi and Akor Adams.
Eric Chelle will remain optimistic that the available squad will be strong enough to secure victory against the Crocodiles. .
