'Full of attacking talent' - Tanzania coach admits Super Eagles pose major threat in Afcon Group C
Published: October 18, 2025
Tanzania head coach, Hemed Suleiman, has commended the attacking strength of the Super Eagles of Nigeria ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations scheduled to start in Morocco this December.
The Taifa Stars have been drawn in a tough Group C alongside Nigeria, Tunisia, and Uganda in the biennial continental tournament.
Speaking in an interview with the Confederation of African Football, the Tanzanian tactician acknowledged the quality within the Nigerian squad, particularly in the attacking department, warning his players to remain focused and disciplined when facing the West African giants.
"You are in a tricky group that includes Nigeria Tunisia and Uganda. Each opponent presents a distinct challenge — how will you approach them?," Hemed said.
"Nigeria is full of attacking talent and lethal creativity. They punish lapses in concentration."
He further analyzed their other group opponents, describing Tunisia as a tactically sound and defensively compact team, while highlighting Uganda's intensity and passion, especially in regional contests.
"Tunisia is tactically disciplined and difficult to break down, a team that tests your patience," he explained.
"Uganifeada brings possession-based hunger and fight; their regional rivalry makes that fixture special. We will tailor our approach per game, but without losing our own identity."
The Super Eagles will enter the 2025 AFCON tournament as one of the favourites, buoyed by their impressive performance in the previous edition.
Nigeria reached the final of the 2023 AFCON in Abidjan, where they narrowly lost to hosts Ivory Coast.
This time, the three-time African champions will be aiming to go one step further and capture a fourth continental title in the nation's history.
A strong showing in Morocco would also boost Nigeria's FIFA ranking, particularly as they eye qualification for the intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March.
