Porto sweating over the fitness of Super Eagles LB Zaidu ahead of trip to Nottingham Forest

Super Eagles left-back Zaidu Sanusi is a doubt for Porto's Europa League clash against Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Thursday, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.

Following their 4-0 victory over CD Celoricense in the third round of the Portuguese Cup, Porto resumed training at CTFD Jorge Costa on Sunday morning to begin preparations for their trip to England.

Zaidu was absent from the recovery session, with the club confirming that he is undergoing treatment for a right calf injury.

The Nigerian international returned to Portugal with the injury and was consequently left out of the squad for the Cup match against CD Celoricense.

After spending twenty months out of the national team, Zaidu earned a recall to the Super Eagles squad for the back-to-back 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin, following the withdrawal of Birmingham City defender Bright Osayi-Samuel.

Nigeria coach Eric Chelle could face an injury crisis in the fullback positions ahead of the playoff tie with Gabon as Ola Aina and Felix Agu remain sidelined with long-term injuries.

This season, Zaidu has featured in nine matches across all competitions, contributing one goal and one assist.

The 28-year-old started Porto's opening two Europa League group games against Salzburg and Red Star Belgrade.
