Liverpool, Man City and West Ham starlets of Nigerian descent receive England U16s call-ups

The England Football Association has announced the England U16 squad for the upcoming Football Federations Cup in Antalya, Turkiye, with three players of Nigerian descent selected by interim coach Barry Lewtas.

West Ham defender Emmanuel Fejokwu, Manchester City midfielder David Eze and Liverpool forward Joshua Abe have been included in the 23-man roster.

Fejokwu, Eze, and Abe will be aiming to add to their international caps during the upcoming friendlies against Wales, Turkiye and Portugal.

The Young Lions are scheduled to face Wales on Thursday, 30th October, Turkiye on Saturday, 1st November and Portugal on Tuesday, 4th November, with all three matches set to take place at the Emirhan Sport Complex in Antalya.

All three players already boast experience at this level, having featured in two friendlies against Italy in August 2025.

The 15-year-old Abe impressed during that camp, scoring in both games.

Despite still being schoolboys, Fejokwu and Abe have already made competitive debuts for West Ham and Liverpool in the U18 Premier League.

Abe was particularly influential last weekend, contributing a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Manchester City U18s.
