Revealed: Mjallby new boy Adewale snubbed interest from clubs in Austria, Finland, Denmark, Norway
Published: November 03, 2025
Reigning Swedish champions Mjallby AIF have completed a major transfer coup with the acquisition of highly rated Nigerian winger Ibrahim Adewale, beating competition from clubs in Austria, Norway, Denmark, and Finland to secure his signature.
The 19-year-old has agreed a long-term contract that runs until the end of the 2030 season, with the deal set to be officially activated in January when the transfer window reopens.
Adewale caught the attention of several European clubs following a breakout campaign at third-tier side IF Karlstad, where he registered an impressive 21 goal involvements (15 goals and 6 assists) in 29 appearances during the 2025 season.
The dynamic winger joined IF Karlstad on loan from the renowned Tripple 44 Football Academy in Nigeria, but Mjallby have now moved to buy out his contract from the academy.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, Samuel Olatunji Okuku, founder of Tripple 44 Football Academy, shed light on Adewale's decision to join the Swedish champions.
Okuku told allnigeriasoccer.com: "Mjallby AIF is a very good club, they have a very fantastic coach.
"They just won the Swedish league, so they are champions, which means they will play in the UEFA Champions League qualifiers next year.
"Worst case scenario, maybe they play in the Europa League. It's a very good option for him to go and play there.
"Apart from Mjallby AIF, there were clubs from Austria, Norway, Denmark and Finland interested in Adewale."
Adewale follows in the footsteps of former Super Eagles defender Gbenga Arokoyo, one of the most notable Nigerians to have represented Mjallby in the past.
