A picture is worth a 1000 words: Iwobi exposes poor condition of Super Eagles hotel

Without uttering a word, Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has drawn attention to the poor condition of the team's hotel in Rabat, Morocco, ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifying playoff against Gabon.

The Fulham midfielder was among the early arrivals to the Super Eagles' camp on Sunday, alongside team officials and several of his international teammates.

The squad, which includes Samuel Chukwueze, Calvin Bassey, William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Tolu Arokodare, and Olakunle Olusegun, is lodged at the Rive Hotel in Rabat, where they are expected to begin full training sessions on Monday ahead of the crucial tie.

However, Iwobi's recent post on social media has drawn widespread attention after he shared images highlighting the poor state and surroundings of the team's accommodation, prompting concerns about the welfare and preparation standards of the Nigerian squad.

While the Nigeria Football Federation is yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation, the development has reignited conversations about player welfare and logistical planning for international assignments.

Nigeria booked their place in the playoff round after finishing second in Group C of the qualifying series, following a commanding 4-0 victory over Benin Republic in Uyo.

The Super Eagles will face Gabon in the semifinal clash, with the winner advancing to meet either DR Congo or Cameroon in the final.

A victory in that match will guarantee Nigeria a place in the intercontinental playoffs scheduled for March 2026, where a ticket to the FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico will be up for grabs.
