'We are together' - Troost-Ekong confirms bonus row is over as Super Eagles head for training
Published: November 12, 2025
The Super Eagles have resumed preparations for their 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa play-off semi-final against Gabon following the resolution of their bonus dispute, allnigeriasoccer.com reports.
Wednesday's training session was scheduled for 5 p.m. in Rabat, Morocco.
The Super Eagles players had boycotted Tuesday’s session over unpaid bonuses and allowances.
Following fresh discussions and commitments from the relevant authorities, the matter has been resolved, allowing the players to return to full training.
Confirming the development, team captain William Troost-Ekong assured fans of renewed focus, writing on his official X handle: “Issue resolved. We are together and, as before, focused on the games ahead.”
All 24 invited players, including captain William Troost-Ekong, Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Moses Simon, Alex Iwobi, and Wilfred Ndidi, are expected to participate in today’s session as head coach Eric Chelle finalises tactical preparations for Thursday’s encounter.
Nigeria will face Gabon at the 22,000-capacity Moulay Hassan Stadium in Rabat on Thursday.
In the other semi-final fixture, Cameroon will take on the Democratic Republic of Congo at the El-Barid Stadium.
The winners of both matches will advance to the final on November 16, which will determine the team that progresses to the inter-confederation play-offs for a chance to secure a place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
