Official: Manager who has worked with five Super Eagles players to coach Arokodare at Wolves
Published: November 12, 2025
With a statement on the official website, Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially announced the appointment of Rob Edwards as the club's new head coach.
The 42-year-old Welshman has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract, succeeding Vítor Pereira, who was relieved of his duties following a disappointing start to the 2025–26 season, which saw Wolves fail to secure a win in their opening ten matches.
Edwards is no stranger to Molineux, having represented Wolverhampton Wanderers during his playing career.
He registered one goal and two assists in 111 appearances across all competitions for the club, and also served as interim manager in October 2016, overseeing two first team fixtures.
Since then, Edwards has built an impressive managerial résumé, taking charge of AFC Telford United, Forest Green Rovers, Watford, Luton Town and most recently Middlesbrough.
During his coaching career, he has worked with several Super Eagles players, including Samuel Kalu, Maduka Okoye, William Troost-Ekong, Emmanuel Dennis and Gabriel Osho.
Probably as from next week, Edwards will begin running the rule over Wolves' Nigeria striker Tolu Arokodare, who is currently in Morocco with the Super Eagles ahead of Thursday's World Cup qualifying playoff match with Gabon's Panthers.
Signed from Racing Genk on deadline day, Arokodare will be hoping for a fresh start under Edwards after struggling for game time under Pereira
With the Portuguese tactician in the Wolves dugout, the Nigerian made only three starts in all competitions from a possible ten, scoring two goals.
