Published: May 20, 2012
John Obi Mikel told Bayern Munich's winger Arjen Robben he was going to miss the penalty kick awarded the German team in the first half of extra-time.
True to Mikel's prediction, Arjen Robben missed the spot-kick. If the penalty had been scored, probably Bayern Munich would have won the UEFA Champions League.
''I told him. "You're going to miss. Cech knows where you are going to put it. " Then when he missed, we believe that the trophy would be ours, ''Mikel told Norwegian daiily, VG.no.
Mikel is the third Nigerian player to win the UEFA Champions League. Nigeria legend Nwankwo Kanu and Finidi George won Europe's most valued club competition with Dutch giants Ajax Amsterdam in 1995.
