FCT Loses Player, ONYEDINMA Mourns
Published: May 25, 2012The camp of FTC Queens FC, has been grieving following the death of one of their players, Ngozi Onwubiko on Wednesday, the striker was aged 22. The player who had been in the Abuja team for the past 7 seasons died on her way to hospital on Wednesday afternoon according to her Coach Ezeh Okafor after a protracted leg injury.
The injury that eventually claimed her life was mysterious according to the Coach as she did not incur it on the field of play but
started complaining about the leg that got swollen up after the end of season.
Okafor termed the death of the late striker as a big loss to the entire management and members of FTC Queens while describing the former Under-20 player as calm and a good example of a complete footballer.
Also mourning the player, the Chairman person of Nigeria Women League Board who doubles as the Deputy Director of Sports, Federal Capital Territory (FTC), Dili Onyedinma expressed her shock over the death of the player.
''We strongly sympathize with family of Onwubiko over the untimely death of this active and pleasant player, we are going to greatly miss this good striker because she had greatly contributed a lot to the team ever since she joined 7 seasons ago”, the Women League boss noted.
