IZUNNA UZOCHUKWU: I Am Aware Of Interest From Rosenborg, FC Groningen
Published: May 27, 2012
22-year-old FC Midtjylland defensive midfielder Izunna Uzochukwu has told allnigeriasoccer.com he's delighted to be named as the Player of the Year by his peers and club officials.
Coach Glen Riddersholm picked the former FC Ebedei whiz as the best central midfielder playing in the Danish top flight.
''I was very happy when I received the news as FCM's best player for the season. It is not easy being considered for that award when you are a young player because in our squad we have other talented and experienced players who cold have scooped the award,'' Izunna Uzochukwu told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Under contract with FCM until the end of the 2014 season, Izunna Uzochukwu is said to be attracting interest from Rosenborg, FC Groningen, Udinese and Racing Genk. The industrious youngster won't mind leaving Denmark if the move has the blessings of FC Midtjylland.
He said: ''I am aware that RBK, FC Groningen and two other big clubs in Europe have made inquiries about my availability. But I am not thinking about that for now. It's a 50 - 50 situation. We'll see what happens when I return from summer holiday.''
