OKE AKPOVETA Happy With Comeback
Published: June 27, 2012Nine months after he got injured in a reserve team fixture against FC Copenhagen, promising Nigerian youngster and Brøndby forward Oke Akpoveta made his comeback for Drengene Fra Vestegnen in the exhibition match with SC Preußen Münster at their training camp in Germany.
Akpoveta, only 20 years, was introduced by Coach Aurelijus Skarbalius in the second half of the encounter, which Brøndby narrowly won 1-0 against the German 3 Liga outfit.
''I was very happy after the game, it's good to be back after such a long time on the sidelines. I played for 20 minutes on Tuesday. Everything is good, I felt no pain. I made the corner kick that resulted in the goal scored by Daniel Stenderup.
''All my teammates were happy to see me play again. I am just looking forward to the start of the season,'' says Akpoveta to allnigeriasoccer.com.
Before the injury set-back last season, the ex Warri Wolves ace had been tipped for great things at Brondby following his performances at the Avatar Cup.
Most players struggle to get back to their previous form after a long spell on the sidelines. Akpoveta hopes to continue flourishing in the coming season.
''Yes, I can get back to my best, though it won't be easy. I have to continue training hard, and keep the spirit going,'' Akpoveta added.
Brøndby's next test game is on Friday against SV Bad Rothenfelde. The squad returns to Denmark on Saturday, June 30.
