Exclusive: ONOME SODJE Inks Three-Year Deal With CR Belouizdad
Published: July 07, 2012
23-year-old Nigerian striker Onome Sodje on Saturday signed a three-year deal with six-time Algerian champions CR Belouizdad.
Onome Sodje, a nephew to Nigeria international Sam Sodje, spent last season at Maltese club Floriana. His contract expired at the end of the 2011 - 2012 season, which sparked interest for him in the transfer market. Teams in Malta, Thailand, Israel and England were in the race for the signature of the former Nigeria Under 17 invitee.
Spoilt for choice, Sodje has settled for CR Belouizdad. He believes he can continue his development with the side from Mohamed Belouizdad district.
''I was immediately impressed with CR Belouizdad as much as they were impressed with me. I think I can adapt to Algerian football. Adapting anywhere is part of me now. I have played in Vietnam, Malta and England, and did not have problems coping with life on and off the pitch,'' the former Oxford United man told allnigeriasoccer.com.
He added: ''I have had a tour of the club's facilities. I am impressed with what is on ground. The hotel the club has provided for me is also very nice, very close to the beach with a beautiful scenery. On Monday, I shall have my first training session with my new teammates. ''
The deal that brought Onome Sodje to CR Belouizdad was brokered by Madjid Bouameur, an Algerian agent.
