ANTHONY UJAH Making Progress In Pre-Season
Published: July 09, 2012
This coming season could be the year of former Lillestrom hero Anthony Ujah. Bundesliga outfit Mainz 05 paid a lot of money for the 21-year-old, but he failed to sparkle in his first season.
Now, if pre-season is used a yardstick, Ujah is back to his best, banging in goals. In a test game held with TSV-Langenlonsheim last Friday, Ujah scored four goals against the national leagueoutfit. More spectacular, it took Ujah less than 45 first half minutes to score a double brace.
In the second test game played by Mainz against FC Eschborn on Saturday , Ujah peppered the opposition defense, but was unlucky not to hit target. That game ended 2-1 in favor of Mainz 05. German-Nigerian midfielder Ephraim Uworuya (23 years) scored the only goal for FC Eschborn in the 50th minute.
It may be too soon to write off Anthony Ujah, who was quite a sensation in his 18-month stint with Lillestrom, Norway.
