REUBEN GABRIEL To Test With Gent, Belgian Club Also Eye FANENDO ADI
Published: July 20, 2012
KA.A Gent have invited for trials the 21-year-old Nigerian midfielder Reuben Gabriel with a view of offering him a contract if he impresses coach Trond Sollied.
Gabriel, whose imperious displays in the Super Eagles African Cup of Nations qualifying match against Rwanda in June landed him his first career Man of the Match Award with the national team, is expected to arrive Belgium before Monday to commence tests with the Europa League campaigners.
The imminent departure of Reuben Gabriel, who can cover several roles in midfield, has been confirmed by Baba Ganaru, coach of Kano Pillars in an interview with the Nigerian edition of goal.com.
Ganaru said: ''He will not be available for the quarter final match on Monday because he will be travelling to train with a club in Europe.
''We will miss him in majority of our matches, but we are going to adjust to life without him because we cannot stop him.''
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that Gent are also tracking the highly rated Dynamo Kiev striker Fanendo Adi as an offensive reinforcement in the summer transfer market. Fanendo Adi played on loan last season at Tavriya, Ukraine.
Former Nigeria gaffer Augustine Eguavoen played for Gent for four seasons, netting 10 goals in 77 appearances for the Buffaloes.
