In-Form PETER UTAKA Celebrates Arrival Of Baby Girl With Brace
Published: July 21, 2012
With six goals in his last five games for Chinese Super League club Dalian Aerbin, former OB Odense star Peter Utaka is staking a serious claim for a recall to the Super Eagles for September's African Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia.
The out of favor Nigeria international grabbed a brace on Saturday as Dalian Aerbin in front of their supporters defeated Shandong Luneng 5-2.
After missing several opportunities to open his account earlier in the game, Utaka netted his first goal in first half stoppage time, then 20 minutes after the restart, the 28-year-old took advantage of some sloppy defending by the opposition to score his tenth goal in 18 matches.
It was double celebration for Peter Utaka on Saturday. Earlier in the week , he had a new addition to his family. His partner delivered a daughter in Belgium.
''I am very happy the team won, '' Utaka was quoted as saying by Netease. And when asked why he was not dedicating the goal to his daughter, the Nigerian attacker laughed and said: '' I am of course pleased with my daughter's birth, but the victory came as a result of the efforts of my teammates.''
Peter Utaka is the third highest goal scorer in the Chinese Championship with 10 strikes, only three goals behind Jiangsu Sainty's Romanian forward Cristian Dănălache.
