SYLVESTER IGBOUN Welcomes Besiktas Interest
Published: August 06, 2012
Turkish giants Beikta have scouted FC Midtjylland's Nigerian forward Sylvester Igboun with a view of signing him in the summer transfer market, the 21- year - old has told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Coach Samet Aybaba is seeking to add to his front-line before the resumption of the league. Former Beikta forward Daniel Amokachi, now assistant coach of the Nigeria selection, had earlier recommended Sone Aluko and Ikechukwu Uche to the club's hierarchy. The new name being proposed is Sylvester Igboun.
'' I can confirm that Beikta are showing interest. I learned the director of the club and the assistant coach were at the stadium to watch me on Sunday in our game with Randers. Thanks to God for making it possible to have a good game and a goal to go with it,'' Igboun told allnigeriasoccer.com.
Perhaps, this is the best opportunity for Sylvester Igboun to leave Denmark, where he has spent six seasons including his time with the academy. The ex FC Ebedei talent welcomes the interest from Beikta.
Igboun said: ''Concerning if I won't leave FCM for Beikta, why not if the right offer comes. FCM is a very good club I have learned a lot from. They really helped me improve on my weaknesses, but you know as a football player you always want a bigger challenge.
''It's an honor to see a big team like Beikta showing interest in my services......I am very happy about that. I have not heard anything from the club yet, but I hope they come up with a concrete offer. Otherwise, I have to keep fighting and focusing on my game.''
Sylvester Igboun has also been watched by representatives of Hertha Berlin this summer. So far, there has been no official bid from the German team.
Transfer market experts value Igboun, who is under contract with FCM until June 2014, at around 1.25 million euros.
