Bayelsa Plan Big For GOODLUCK/SAMBO Peace Cup

The annual football fiesta for male and female footballers under the age of 18 which entered its second edition is being organized by Sports Friends of Goodluck/Sambo (SFOGS).
The big soccer event that would attract participants from all states of the federations has been scheduled to commence on 1st and end on 7th September at Samson Siasia Sports Complex, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.
Motive behind the tourney according to the Director of Publicity to the organizers, Comrade Franklyn Igho, is to positively engage youth and take their minds off anti social vices for a peaceful co-existence in the nation.
“We designed this competition with the intent of appreciating the contributions of our youths to the stability of democracy in the country through football, which is widely accepted to be the most popular sport among the youths.
“The tourney is also aimed at promoting peace, unity and to help in identifying hidden soccer talents for nurturing, while it would also disabuse the minds of the restive youths from all sort of social vices.
“We have intention of taking the hosting right of the tourney round all the six geo-political zones of the country in order to maximize its benefits”, Igho explained.
Among dignitaries expected at the opening of the soccer event includes the Senate President, Senator David Mark, Sir Godsday Orubebe the Minister for Niger-Delta, Chief E.K Clark who will grace the event as the father of the day while Bayelsa’s State Governor Seriake Dickson will kick start the event.
