VINCENT ENYEAMA Set For Maccabi Tel Aviv Debut
Published: August 17, 2012
If things go according to plan, Nigeria custodian Vincent Enyeama is expected to make his debut for new club Maccabi Tel Aviv in the Toto Cup match with Maccabi Netanya on Sunday.
''Honestly, it was not easy to make the decision to play against Hapoel, but I'm a professional, I am a foreign player and I took the decision. Today I want to play just for Maccabi and here I am,'' Enyeama, who only started practicing with the capital side four days ago, was quoted as saying by one.co.il.
On loan from French side Lille till the end of the season, Enyeama's transfer to The Yellows almost met a brick wall following allegations that he was threatened electronically by fanatical supporters of Hapoel Tel Aviv, bitter rivals of Maccabi and his past club in Israel. Now, there is a happy ending, the Super Eagle is ready for business.
''The feeling here is great. People around me are really nice to me. In general, Israel has very warm people and I pray that it will continue that way. Israel is a special place, the land of God, this is an amazing place to live. I missed Israel in general, not just football, " says Enyeama.
