VINCENT ENYEAMA Said He Will Not Play For Maccabi Tel Aviv - Former Teammate
Published: August 19, 2012
Maccabi Tel Aviv new signing Vincent Enyeama made his eagerly anticipated debut on Sunday. The Nigeria international was on holiday in the 3-0 routine victory over Maccabi Netanya.
Meanwhile, the transfer of Enyeama to Maccabi, bitter rivals of Hapoel Tel Aviv, continues to generate ripples in Israel, where he is a cult figure.
Speaking on Israeli Radio Station, past teammate of Vincent Enyeama, Salim Toameh has disclosed that the Nigeria custodian promised never to wear the jersey of The Yellows.
''Today, because he signed with Maccabi, he (Enyeama, ed) is no longer a symbol of this club. I do not think he got pissed off, I do not think he received threats.
''If he wants to play for Maccabi then let him. While he was Hapoel Tel Aviv he received the greatest sympathy and stated that he will not wear the yellow jersey,'' Toameh was quoted as saying by one.co.il.
