Nigerian Academicals Player Goes Missing In United States
Published: August 22, 2012
The unknown player is a member of the Nigeria Academicals Team that traveled to the United States to take part in some invitational games against some youth teams from South Carolina.
''We want to believe that he will return before the team leaves. We’re putting our hopes on that right now. He’s a young fellow; I don’t think he knows anybody here, Sam Okpodu, a former handler of the Super Falcons now executive director of the South Carolina Youth Soccer Association, told heraldonline.com.
Adds Okpodu : '' We want to believe that he will return before the team leaves. We’re putting our hopes on that right now. He’s a young fellow; I don’t think he knows anybody here.''
An unknown Facebook friend might have offered assistance to the missing player to run away from camp. The Nigeria Team, who played their last game on Wednesday evening against Rock Hill’s Discoveries Soccer Club’s 96 green team, are due to return home on Thursday.
