CHARLES NWAOGU Testing With Widzew Lodz
Published: September 09, 2012
Polish top flight club Widzew Lodz have invited for trials Charles Uchenna Nwaogu who last Tuesday had his contract terminated by Arka Gdynia for insubordination.
Recall that last weekend the 22 - year -old Nigerian forward failed to convert a penalty awarded in extra time in Arka Gdynia's 0-1 loss to Zawisza Bydgoszcz in Gdynia. He had not been mandated by coach Petr Nemec to take the spot - kick.
Nwaogu participated in Saturday's friendly match between Widzew Lodz and GKS Belchatow. The youngster, top scorer in Poland's second - tier two seasons ago, was introduced in the second half and created a good impression on the coaches, finding target in the 64th minute.
''That was my first contact with the team and training after nearly a week's break. I tried to do what I had to do, and I gave it one hundred percent. It seems to me that I lack a bit of power. We'll see what happens next. It's up to the coach,'' Nwaogu told the official website of the Lodz based club.
Should he impress coach Radosaw Mroczkowski at the end of tests, he will be offered a contract with effect from January, 2013.
