Ex Eaglets Defender Turns Scout
Published: September 28, 2012
Another addition has come to the ever-growing number of Nigerian ex-players turning to football management, as former Golden Eaglets defender, John Obinna Nkeodi has also floated a players’ transfer company in Manchester, England.
Information reaching allnigeriasoccer.com has it on authority that the member of former Eaglets coach, Fanny Iyakhere Amun’s ill-fated squad that eventually won the maiden UEFA/CAF 1997 Meridien Cup in Portugal is now a senior partner at International Football Connections Limited.
The company, whose headquarters is at 50 Granby Row, Manchester, M1 7AY, aims to market young Nigerian players and fresh revelations of the Nigeria Premier League to countries in central Europe.
Although the Abia State-born Nkeodi, who grew up in Ajegunle area of Lagos, is based in England, he says he is not thinking of marketing players to Britain, in order not to fall foul of the restriction of 75% national matches.
“Our plan is to start something with a couple of academies and youth football developers in Lagos, from where we can make inroads to the Golden Eaglets and clubs in the Nigeria Premier League,” said the player-turned-company director.
Independent checks by allnigeriasocccer.com revealed that other directors at International Football Connections Limited include another Nigerian, Yomi Bremner Itsekure and an Asian, Simon Ying Hua Li.
