Sweden Football Expert: JOHN CHIBUIKE Is Not Eligible To Play For Sweden
Published: September 28, 2012
Rosenborg star John Chibuike is wishing to play for the National Team of Nigeria.
Chibuike, a modern day midfielder as he has offensive and defensive abilities, is one of the exciting talents in Scandinavian football, but has been overlooked for selection first by Samson Siasia and now his successor Stephen Keshi.
''Nigeria is my country, but it seems they don't need me. I was interested sometimes ago when I was at Hacken in Sweden and I made it known to the world that I want to play for the Olympic team at least.
''But to my greatest surprise no invitation was extended to me,'' said the former Enugu Rangers defender to MTNFootball.
Despite independent confirmation obtained by allnigeriasoccer.com from Chibuike himself claiming that he's on the radar of the Sweden National Team, the player is being economical with the truth, a top Swedish Football expert has told this portal.
''I have not read anything from any publication here in Sweden that they want him in the National Team. Usually you need to stay here for at least five years until you are eligible for Swedish citizenship. There are some exceptions but It's very rare. I hardly believe this is one of those exceptions,'' he said.
23 - year -old John Chibuike spent two years with Swedish club BK Hacken. On the back of his imperious displays for the Swedish club, he caught the eye of RBK who signed him in August 2011.
