OBAFEMI MARTINS Decides Valencia Derby
Published: October 07, 2012
Out of favour Super Eagle Obafemi Martin's first half goal decided the Valencia derby in the seventh round of games played in Spain's La Liga.
The 1 - 0 victory means Levante are now tenth in the standings, with ten points, same as Getafe and Real Valladolid but with a lesser goal difference.
In a chat with the official website after the game, the Nigeria international said: ''Munúa (goalkeeper, ed) and I talked about the play of the goal in training. He tells me to do the movements and frees me. Munúa has a very good throwing of the ball.
''I'm very happy here in Levante and look forward to make many people happy. Since I started playing in Inter Milan, all the derbies for me are very important. Today, the team demostrated that we can win today, and we did very well to win.The three points are very important and we are very happy.''
Martins, former Inter Milan, Newcastle and Rubin Kazan forward, has scored in every home game he's played for Levante since his switch from Russia in September.
