Golden Eaglets Take Healthy Lead To Conakry
Published: October 14, 2012
Nigeria Under 17s outplayed their Guinean counterparts on Sunday afternoon, with a handsome 3 - 0 win over the opponents at the U.J. Esuene Stadium, Calabar.
The Golden Eaglets, three - time champions of the Fifa Under 17 World Cup, scored two goals in the first half through Success Isaac (25th minute) and Kelechi Iheanacho (44th minute).
The first half scoreline could have been more formidable for the Golden Eaglets but for a series of fine saves by the brilliant Ganaika Ibrahima in goal for Guinea.
16 minutes into the second half, Alhassan Ibrahim netted the third goal for Nigeria after some brilliant work down the right flank by Kelechi Iheanacho.
Based on the 3-0 first leg advantage, we can assume that the Eaglets have qualified for the 2013 CAF Under 17 championship except a miracle happens in Conakry in a fortnight.
