Published: November 11, 2012
Chinedu Bright Dike, 25, has been invited by Eagles gaffer Stephen Keshi for the exhibition match against Venezuela in Miami, Florida on Wednesday.
Three players earlier invited - Mikel Obi, Victor Moses and Onyekachi Apam - have withdrawn from the squad, hence the late invitation of the Portland Timbers forward.
Portland Timbers have confirmed that Bright Dike has been handed a late call - up to the Nigeria squad.
''The Portland Timbers today announced that forward Bright Dike has been called into camp with the Nigeria National Team for a friendly against Venezuela on Wednesday in Miami, Fla. It is his first national team call-up at any level.
''Dike, whose parents were born in Nigeria, will join the Nigeria National Team on Sunday in preparation for the friendly. Nigeria will play Venezuela at Marlins Park on Wednesday; kickoff is set for 5:05 p.m. (Pacific),'' Portland Timbers said in a statement on the official website.
The Oklahoma native has notched 6 goals in 23 appearances in his first two seasons with The Timbers.
