NFF's Technical Department Would Ruin Nigerian Football, NWLB Member Warns
Published: November 19, 2012
As Nigeria soccer fans are still ruing the disgraceful performance of the Falcons at the 2012 AWC, in Equatorial Guinea, where the Super Falcons returned home empty handed after 1-0 loss to South Africa at the semi-final stage and finally lost the3rd place to Cameroon by 1-0, the Vice Chairman of Nigeria Women League Board (NWLB), Adebowale Adeoye described the Malabo saga as unfortunate and very embarrassing.
He disclosed this while expressing his worries over the recurring slide rocking women football on Nigeria saying “it has never happened in the history of women football that our girls' performance would be as terrible as that”.
The Chairman of Ibadan based women professional side, NITO Queens said everything about the Falcons expedition to the AWC was wrong, technically, psychologically and tactically, while he placed the bulk of the blame at the doorstep of the Technical Committee headed by Barrister Christopher Green.
His words: “Green in his own selfish interest destroyed our game (Nigerian Women Football) by making wrong appointment ranging from Coordinator General to the least official of Super Falcons Team”.
“Frankly speaking, the composition of technical officials for Falcons was nothing to write home about. We have been vindicated, Green took women national teams completely away from Women Football League board and eventually sold our game to slavery.
“Since Green assumed office as Technical Committee Head of NFF, Nigerian Football has suffered greatly while grassroots football including domestic leagues are already on danger list; because, we allowed inexperienced and unqualified person to head a very sensitive and exalted position of head of technical committee of the world's most populous black nation football governing body with over 150 million football fans.
“It is very important now that some credible and experienced members of the board of NFF rise and defend our game by sanctioning those liable for the setback that Nigeria Football has experienced in the past 2 years, by dissolving the existing technical committee and reverse all unholy appointments made by Mr. Green’s Technical Committee”.
