EMMANUEL EMENIKE Refuses To Come On As Substitute
Published: November 26, 2012
With the scoreline at 3 - 0 in favor of Dynamo Moscow, Unai Emery had wanted to introduce the Nigeria international ten minutes into the second half, but he rejected the advances of the Spanish coach, who was dismissed immediately after the game.
There had been an uneasy relationship between Emenike and Emery. In the derby with CSKA Moscow on October 7,
when the Nigerian was replaced in the 76th minute, he refused to shake hands with the Spanish coach.
Last month, speculations were rife that Emenike was fined by Spartak Moscow for snubbing the coach. He has since denied that financial sanctions were imposed by the club.
Note that Emenike has not scored in the last two months in the Russian Premier League. His last strike was against Rostov on September 23.
