Official: MIKEL To Remain With Chelsea Until 2017

Chelsea has announced through a statement on its official website that the contract of Nigeria international John Mikel Obi has been extended for an additional five years. The new deal keeps the defensive midfielder at Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2016 - 2017 season.
Mikel moved to London at the age of 19, and has won the Premier League, 4 FA Cup medals, Carling Cup and the Champions League.
Speaking on the new deal to the official website, chelseafc.com, Mikel said: ''Chelsea seems like my home now because I have been here for over six years and I enjoy my time here. I come into the training ground every day to work and I value my time there. I am happy and want to keep going and win trophies for this club.
''Last season to win the Champions League was even more special and I hope these next five years will bring even more success and I can win trophies with the new players we have here.''
Mikel made his debut for Chelsea in August 2006, and has gone on to make 261 appearances, scoring twice.
