African Player Of The Year Finalists: Yaya Toure, Didier Drogba And Alex Song On Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football, CAF, unveiled the final three candidates for the 2012 African Player of the Year.

Ivorian internationals Yaya Toure of Manchester City and Didier Drogba (Shanghai Shenhua) will compete with Barcelona's summer signing Alex Song for the prestigious award.

The winner will be announced on December 20 at a gala ceremony in the Ghana capital Accra. Yaya Toure is the reigning African Footballer of the Year.

For the African Player of the Year based in Africa, the three men shortlisted for the award are Mohamed Aboutreika(Al Ahly) and TP Mazembe's duo of Rainford Kalaba and Stoppila Sunzu.
