Exclusive: FC Inter Turku Sign Nigeria International Defender
Published: December 06, 2012
Top Finnish clubside FC Inter Turku claim that they have signed a Nigerian international defender whose identity is yet unknown for now.
FC Inter, who were runners up in the Finnish league last season and thus qualified to represent Finland in the UEFA Europa League have started beefing up their ranks, and their very first foray was into the African market from where they grabbed a big name Nigerian international defender.
Speaking to allnigeriasoccer.com, the owner of FC Inter Turku Mr. Patrik Hakan confirmed the story but stated that as they are still dotting the Is and crossing the Ts he was not a liberty to disclose the name of the defender for now.
"You know the intrigues involved in transfer negotiations so for now it is a club decision to withold the identity of the player, but I must assure you that he is a player of considerable international experience with a couple of Nigerian national teams, including the Super Eagles. He is a player of high pedigree, and one whom I am sure will hit great heights in Finnish League and move on from here to greater achievements in his career," added Patrik.
"We are delighted as a club to acquire this player, and he has shown great ambition in joining us and in choosing us over the numerous more lucrative offers he received from Asia. This shows that he is a very ambitious player, and as we are a very ambitious club this is a match made in Heaven. All things being equal, we are certain he will play for Nigeria at the World Cup in 2014 and other competitions. The player has already signed our contract, but we chose to keep it quiet now for a few reasons. Be rest assured, after everything is settled, you will be the very first to learn of his identity." concluded Mr. Hakans
