SHITTU Could Reject Nigeria Call
Published: December 23, 2012
Millwall central defender Danny Shittu could turn down a chance to play for the Super Eagles at the 2013 African Cup of Nations, British media has hinted.
The London side are contesting for one of the promotion spots and may be without Shittu for vital games in the championship against Bolton, Burnley and Barnsley in January.
Manager of Millwall, Kenny Jackett was quoted as saying by newsatden.co.uk: ''I don't think he's going to go and I don't think he's been in touch with them. At the moment that's the decision.
"It was a surprise but it shows how well Danny has done. He's only in the preliminary squad so that's going to be cut down.
"But congratulations to him because he's in there based on his performances."
32 - year - old Danny Shittu played at the 2008 and 2010 editions of the African Cup of Nations. His last international appearance was an Afcon qualifying clash against Madagascar more than two years ago.
