Odemwingie Wants To Be Skipper, Claims Keshi
Published: December 24, 2012
Eagles gaffer Stephen Keshi sensationally revealed on Sunday that Peter Odemwingie wanted to be the captain of the National Team by any means necessary.
''He told them that he wanted to be captain as he considered himself one of the most senior players in the current squad.
''But how he has behaved in the national team over the years has really run counter to his ambition to be the leader of this team. You can only lead by example,'' an official of the Nigeria Federation told MTNFootball.com.
Goalkeepers Vincent Enyeama and Austin Ejide as well as current skipper Joseph Yobo are regarded as more senior players than Odemwingie as the West Brom forward only established himself in the squad in 2004.
